Meditation in Westchester

Vajra Light Buddhist Center is a non-profit Buddhist meditation center in Westchester, NY. We offer instruction in meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice through meditation classes, retreats and special events.  Taught by qualified Western teachers, Vajra Light's meditation classes are very easy to understand and apply to our daily lives.  The classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners.


Where to Start

All of the classes listed below are part of our General Program (GP) and are open to anyone to attend on a drop-in basis. Classes are especially designed to help busy, modern people find more inner peace and happiness. No prior experience with Buddhism or meditation is necessary. How To Transform Your Life

Every Sunday, 10:30AM - 12:00PM


This series of classes is based on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book How to Transform Your Life. This practical manual for daily life shows how we can develop authentic inner peace, overcome daily problems, and bring about positive changes in our life that enable us to experience deep and lasting happiness. Each class consists of guided meditations and clear explanations, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.


Take Control of Your Life: Envisioning a New Reality

Often we feel we are the victim of our circumstances, but are we?  If you feel like you don’t have any control in your life, think again! In every situation, we have the power to choose how we will respond and react. With a new year ahead, imagine the kind of life you want for yourself moving forward. What will it take to achieve this vision? By allowing yourself the freedom and space to set a beautiful intention, you can begin building a plan for how you’re going to get there. Buddha taught that the mind is limitless. It can do anything and everything. By relying on Buddha and aligning our intentions with virtue, we can make joyful effort in the direction of our pure potential.


Overcoming Addictions: Breaking the Cycle of Negativity

Many of us find ourselves feeling trapped in destructive cycles of thinking and behaving, that can manifest as compulsive tendencies and unhealthy addictions.  By applying Buddha’s teachings on how to understand and train the mind, we can learn how to purify our minds, break the cycle of negativity, and live a healthy, positive, and happy life.

Healing the Past:
How To Purify Negative Karma

Even though we may try to live in the present, we often find ourself defined by and even stuck in the past. The practice of purification is a gentle way to heal our mind of past negativity and find the inner strength and inspiration to move forward, so that we can reach our extraordinary potential.

In this half-day course, Donna will teach a special purification practice of Buddha Vajrasattva. This practice is simple, gentle and powerful in healing and removing negativity from the mind.
